1 About this page
RedlinerHQ has two parts. The web app runs in your browser, so the open-source code inside it is sent to you. The server runs on our servers, and its open-source code stays there. This site also sends you two open-source fonts.
The lists and licence texts are generated from the packages we actually ship, and checked whenever the software is tested. This page is a summary. The licence texts linked in section 6 are the full notices.
2 In the web app
The web app at app.redlinerhq.app includes these open-source components:
| Component | What it does | Licence |
|---|---|---|
| React, React DOM | The user interface | MIT |
| EmbedPDF | The PDF viewer and markup tools | MIT |
| PDFium, as WebAssembly | Reads and draws PDF pages, inside EmbedPDF | BSD-3-Clause and Apache-2.0 |
| FreeType, libjpeg-turbo, OpenJPEG, Little CMS, libpng, zlib, Anti-Grain Geometry | Fonts, images, colour and drawing, compiled into PDFium | FreeType License, IJG and BSD-3-Clause, BSD-2-Clause, MIT, libpng, zlib, AGG |
| Microsoft Authentication Library for JavaScript | Signing in with Microsoft | MIT |
| Vite, Rolldown | Small loading helpers the build adds | MIT |
| Schibsted Grotesk, JetBrains Mono | The typefaces | SIL Open Font License 1.1 |
Portions of this software are copyright © The FreeType Project (www.freetype.org). All rights reserved. This software is based in part on the work of the Independent JPEG Group.
Every package, with its version, copyright lines and licence text: app.redlinerhq.app/licences.txt. The sign-in page links to it too.
3 On our servers
The server runs on Node.js with open-source packages and the packages they depend on. Among them: Express (the web server), pdf-lib (finished copies and summaries of PDFs), jose (checking sign-in tokens), the Azure SDK for JavaScript (storage, email and signing in to Microsoft services), and tsx with esbuild (running the server's TypeScript). Almost all are under the MIT licence; the others are under ISC, BSD, Apache-2.0, 0BSD or zlib licences, and the SIL Open Font License for fonts. The server also runs ffmpeg, a separate program (section 4).
This software is not sent to your browser. Its full notices ship with every deployment of the server, in a file named THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt. For a copy, email contact@redlinerhq.app.
4 ffmpeg
To make the review copies of audio files, the server runs ffmpeg 7.0.2: the static build ffmpeg-7.0.2-amd64-static made by John Van Sickle (johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg), which the ffmpeg-static package downloads when the server is installed. That build is licensed under the GNU General Public License version 3.
We use it unmodified, as a separate program. The server starts it and reads its output. It is not linked into RedlinerHQ, and we have not changed it. It runs only on our servers and is never sent to your browser.
Source. The build's provider publishes the source of its release builds from its page (the release builds' source link: johnvansickle.com/ffmpeg/release-source). The FFmpeg project publishes the source of FFmpeg 7.0.2 at ffmpeg.org/releases/ffmpeg-7.0.2.tar.xz. The build's description, with the libraries compiled into it, and the licence text are in THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.txt.
5 Fonts
This site and the web app use two typefaces, served from our own servers, unmodified. Both are under the SIL Open Font License, Version 1.1.
